Get Sewing: Beginners Machine Sewing course

cushioncoverworkshop_makedoTuesdays 8-10pm at The Green, Nunhead
Next Course: Tuesday 10th Jan – weekly till 7th Feb

Did you get a new sewing machine for Christmas?
Or had one sat gathering dust for a while?

Get Sewing is a 5 week course to give you confidence to use you machine and make a variety of projects, accompanied by tea and cake (totally essential!) All materials and refreshments provided (unsless stated). Bring your own sewing machine to start a lifelong partnership (but if you don’t have one email us before booking so we can make sure we have one for you.)

Starting with the basics of threading up your machine and sewing in a straight line, we’ll make a cushion cover in week one. In week two you’ll master the zipper foot, making a handy make-up bag. (You’ll be making these as gifts for all your friends this year.)
Then we’ll measure you up and create an easy no-pattern garment (you bring your choice of fabric for this)
For those who get the basics quickly, each project has Step Up ideas to take your project a bit further.

By the end of the 5 weeks you will have been introduced to all the settings, feet & dials on your machine, and go away with some ideas for sewing on your own. You’ll learn basic fabric handling and the different fabrics and their uses, and how to adjust your machine accordingly.

Cost: £130
