…and here we are. The last few days of Make/do @Nunhead Corner.
But there are still loads of things to drop in for:
Tues 1st @ 8-10pm: Craft Night
As usual, a plethora of cake & tea will be provided to aid crafting & conversation. Bring whatever you are working on, be it stitching or sticking.
If you don’t have anything, then we’ll have some ideas to spark your imagination to make for good.
We’d love to support some inventive causes including:
I am Supercapes – Bring any large pieces of spare fabric you have and we’ll make some supercapes to give children the power to be children. We’ll have some spare fabric, a template & sewing machines…
Lisa’s Stars – Bring your odd balls of pastel 4-ply & DK to knit some tiny blankets for babies born sleeping pre-24 weeks. We’ll have the patterns & will send off your completed pieces to the rep for Kings, St Thomas’s & Great Ormond Street.
If you have another charity close to your heart that needs crafters, bring details & we’ll see what we can do.
Wed & Thurs 2nd & 3rd @ 10-6
We’re open for business as usual 10am – 6pm both days, and will have some great last minute offers to tickle your fancy. Browse our wools, fabrics & notions before it all goes a bit bonkers on Thursday night.
This will be your last chance to drop in for craft surgery, to ask us advice, & to use the machines & cutting table.
Thursday 3rd @ 6-10pm – The Last Hurrah
An evening of Pimms, prizes & promotions. Our last evening in Nunhead Corner we hope will be a great celebration of all that has been created & inspired over the whole 42 days, saluted with some tall glasses crowned with fruit.
Come along with something you have made since 24th May, and we’ll have some prizes to give out.
And we’ll have the biggest haberdashery sale that Nunhead has ever seen* (Disclaimer: *we think) so make sure you are armed with a list of what you need^ (^Need is a flexible term and includes ‘want’, ‘desire’…)
We’d also love you to add to our #MakeDo42 galleries on Facebook & Pinterest. Tweet us your photos to @make_do_crafts and tag #makedo42 and we’ll add them to our galleries.

New Year’s day 2014 saw the beginning of a social media trend for the #100days of happiness, posting one photo everyday for 100 days showing something that makes you happy.
Then along comes May, and the third incarnation of the #MeMadeMay hashtag, wearing something everyday for the month of may that you have made, and posting photos.
– Craft makes us happy.
– We love making things, to wear, (or for the home or the kids).
– The make/do pop-up runs for 42 days.
Welcome to #makedo42
With less than a week to go till the grand launch, we can now reveal the exciting plans we have for the space, including workshops by the experts, pattern classes from Tessa Evelegh (of Great British Sewing Bee fame), craft & chat evenings and drop-in sessions for kids during half term & Fathers Day.
There are loads of different classes; for beginners & improvers in knitting, sewing & crochet, for using patterns to make garments… There are more details on our Workshops page. But do drop in anytime to have a chat with us, to ask advice, to buy bits & kits to get crafting at home, or to browse ideas on our inspiration wall.
Peruse the calendar at your leisure and then book for the classes through the Workshops page.
Make sure you get your gladrags on for the make/do launch on Friday 23rd May. And if you wear something you have made yourself then not only will toy get a voucher for 10% in the shop, but you’ll be in with a chance to win a copy of Sew your own Wardrobe from the #GBSB series.
On the night, author of the book Sew your own Wardrobe, Tessa Evelegh, will be officially opening the shop, sharing some words of wisdom and signing books. But the highlight will be as she casts her expert eye over your handiwork and presents a signed copy of her book to the person she feels has created a standout garment or accessory.
So what will Tessa be looking for in a winning Make it Yourself #MIY piece?
